The international conference entitled Conflict of Interest in Central and Eastern Europe was held between August 25 and 27 in Toruń. The conference was hosted by the Institute of Sociology, Nicolaus Copernicus University.

A lot of interesting presentations were given on this social phenomenon. Among them was one delivered by Emil Pływaczewski and Wojciech Filipkowski from University of Białystok. The topic of the presentation was 'Polish Platform for Homeland Security: Idea, History and Research Projects' and, therefore, it was strictly connected to the INDECT project. Professor Pływaczewski also discussed the vital importance of INDECT as a future security system.
