Cybercrime and Information Security Conference in Warsaw
INDECT representative participated in the Cybercrime and Information Security Conference under the patronage of Professor Bruno Hołyst, Rector of the Academy of Management in Warsaw. The conference, which took place on May 20, provided a reasonable opportunity to discuss aspects such as cybercrime, information security management, computers in forensic, artificial intelligence methods in detecting and fighting computer crime, cryptographic systems, digital traces in the detection of computer crime. The presentation concerned INACT and INCR applications introduction and approached problems and solutions to improving police performance.
Invited Lectures in Turkey
INDECT made contribution to the invited lectures at Akdeniz University, Turkey. Mikolaj Leszczuk participated in the event giving a presentation. The presentation concerning aspects such as image quality assessment and recognitions tasks is available here.
INDECT at the 16th World Congress of International Society for Criminology
Main presentation on INDECT was given during the 16th World Congress of the International Society for Criminology in Kobe. The event took place between August 5th and 9th. More than 1,460 people participated in the Congress including about 350 from outside Japan. Such events are held every three years. The previous one was held in Barcelona in 2008. It was the first time Japan had hosted this Congress.
The given presentation was included in the session entitled "Technology and Crime Prevention Strategies" which, additionally, was chaired by Professor Pływaczewski. In this session, he gave a speech entitled "New Directions of Criminological Research in Europe.The Polish Platform for Homeland Security as an Example" and presented a paper by Professor Dziech "The European Project INDECT: New Possibilities to Provide High Level of Security for Citizens in Urban Environment". These presentations took place on 7 August and aroused session participants' great interest in the subject.
INDECT presentation at CEPOL course
CEPOL is a European Union Agency. Its mission is to encourage cross-border cooperation of European police forces in the fight against crime, public security and law and order by organising training activities and research findings.
The CEPOL course was entitled "Knowledge of European Police Systems" and it was held in Kraków, Poland from the 7th until the 10th of June 2011 . The aim of the course was strictly connected to the tools of cross border Police cooperation as well as the presentation of different platforms in the area of law enforcement, public order and public safety such as the INDECT Project.
