W-DPCM: New Method for Data Protection
Data protection against fraud or illegal access is one of the main INDECT goals. The team of University of Applied Sciences Vienna developed a new method for protecting video content based on steganographic approach. The video which should be protected is embedded into any arbitrary host video. For this purpose the DPCM (Differential Pulse Code Modulation) was modified and combined with spectral domain transformation methods to produce powerful embedding procedure. The host video shows no significant degradation or artefacts. By using W-DPCM method secure exchange of video information through public channels like Internet is possible without a risk of being hacked, discovered or manipulated by an intruder.
The mechanism can be used for protecting privacy of people whose images are recorded on stored or transmitted video sequences.
